Rick has established a solid reputation for utmost integrity, reliability and uncompromising professionalism in the Triad’s building industry. Whatever the project, Rick prides himself on consistently delivering both quality and value. He is involved throughout the project lifecycle with clients, architects, designers and trade professionals alike to monitor progress, implement creative solutions, and ensure a best-in-class team that transforms a client’s vision into a successful finished product.
Rick is known for his strong skill of understanding his clients’ visions and takes pride in turning it into a reality for them. He loves to think outside the box and never rules out an idea. Rick understands the considerable trust and responsibility that every client places in him when building a home, and considers it a true privilege when chosen to be a part of the process.
Rick was born and raised in Massachusetts. After earning a degree in Economic Development and Business Administration, he spent 14 years in manufacturing and corporate America. In, 2005, Rick decided to leave the corporate world and launch a lifelong dream; Sonoma Building Company was then established. He has served as president and board member for the Home Builders Association of Winston Salem and served on the board of the North Carolina State Home Builders Association. He has also partnered with Habitat for Humanity to contribute to the local community. Rick resides with his wife, Jen, and their four sons. In his free time he enjoys coaching youth lacrosse, golfing with his sons, and pursuing his passion for economic development in Africa.
DJ has a passion for managing projects and transforming a client’s vision into reality. DJ brings a high standard for quality, process improvement and client relations, harnessed by years of corporate logistics management experience along with a lifetime of hands-on work. His oversight of Sonoma’s renovations includes initial consultations, project planning-implementation, and ensuring clients have a positive building experience.
DJ met his wife and spent the early years of his career in his hometown of St. Petersburg, Florida. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Quality Management from Southwestern College and a master’s degree in Ministerial Leadership from Grace College. He and his wife reside in Advance and have have three grown daughters. An avid outdoorsman, DJ enjoys fly-fishing and riding bikes with his wife and spending time relaxing at the beach.
Sarah Beth Weaver
Born and raised in Winston-Salem, Sarah Beth’s upbringing was steeped in the area’s
home building industry, as several of her family members were local builders. This unique exposure instilled in her an appreciation for the art of home building and a great deal of industry knowledge.
With a background in banking and a degree from Wake Forest University’s School of Business, Sarah Beth contributes a strong suit of skills, professionalism and education to the Sonoma team. As project manager, Sarah Beth is involved from the planning stages to implementation, managing the procurement of construction materials and ensuring their timely delivery while maintaining project costs. With a keen appreciation for precision of detail on every project, Sarah Beth enjoys the role she plays in creating home for Sonoma’s clients, placing the highest value on exceeding their expectations.
Sarah Beth resides in Winston-Salem with her husband, Doug and well-loved dog, Harvey. In her free time she enjoys working out as well as riding horses, a life-long hobby of hers.
Andy Monk is Sonoma’s “execution specialist”, bringing a wealth of knowledge and skill to the hands-on portion and coordination of our projects. Over the past 25 years, he has honed his talents in all aspects of building and also in project supervision of both custom homes and high-end renovations.
Andy credits his love for building to time spent as a child traveling to jobsites with his great uncle who was a framer. Over time he learned he enjoys the balance of the physical work of his role coupled with the interaction with customers. He prides himself on providing the highest quality craftsmanship with no short cuts, and loves the satisfaction of providing homeowners with a beautiful finished product.
Andy resides in Clemmons with his wife, Lisa, and three of their four children, while his eldest child is married and serves in the Army. He spends much of his free time involved in his children’s sports activities, including coaching baseball.
Emily Verheyen Craycroft
The heart of the home lies in its ability to beautifully reflect the homeowner, and no one understands this better than our designer, Emily. From the planning stages to implementation, Emily works closely with customers to help them discover the design that fits their personal style and vision. Emily firmly believes that building a home can and should be an enjoyable experience, and it is her goal to tailor the design process to fit the individual needs and desires of each homeowner.
Emily’s roots in design run deep as she hails from a family of designers and has spent over ten years building an impressive portfolio in the home building industry. In addition to her design work, Emily has extensive sales and project management experience in the field.
Emily is a native of Winston-Salem and returned to live here after graduating from Peace College in Raleigh. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Matt, and putting new life into her home, refurbishing furniture and curating unique pieces of décor.
From your first contact with our company to the end of your building project, Tricia plays an essential role. She is the ‘hub’ of the wheel and responsible for making many behind the scene pieces happen. Tricia has acquired and sharpened a broad skill set through her professional background that includes marketing, event planning, and database management. Like others on the Sonoma team she values good communication, thorough planning and strong delivery.
Tricia is a Michigan native and graduated with a degree in English from Tennessee Temple University. She and her husband, Joe, have two young, active sons and reside in Winston-Salem. When time allows, her family enjoys camping and outdoor family activities.
Jen has been utilizing her accounting background to manage the books and oversee the daily finances of the company since the day it began. She enjoys partnering with her husband, Rick, and looks forward to playing a role in the business for many years to come. Jen has participated in almost every aspect of the company and although the numbers are her job, Jen’s passion for the process lies in her belief that a successful company should be built on a foundation of strong relationships with customers, subcontractors and suppliers.
Jen was raised in the western part of North Carolina and Washington, DC. In addition to her work at Sonoma, she has a career in the non-profit industry and loves being “mom” to four sons.
