Creating Community: Habitat for Humanity Home Dedication

The day of dedication had arrived! Last Thursday, Sonoma had the honor of participating in the dedication ceremony of the Habitat for Humanity home we helped build this spring. Team members from Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County and the Home Builders Association of Winston Salem, along with family, friends and other community members gathered to celebrate at the dedication. The ceremony was a beautiful picture of community, marked with the joy of homeowner, Tamarah Calderon, cutting the ribbon stretched across the front door of her new home and receiving the keys that symbolize the new chapter she and her family will begin within its walls.

The Calderons’ home was one of five built by Habitat this spring in the Glen Oaks community of Winston Salem, all of which broke ground during the 25th Anniversary Collegiate Challenge in March.

We are excited to share the news of its dedication with the hard-working college students that spent their spring break building with us, and want to extend a huge thank you to them for their service.  We also want to say a big thank you to Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County for allowing us to be a part. It was an honor and joy to serve alongside you. Day in and day out, you are impacting lives in a most tangible way. We stand along with our community to say, thank you!
